Ich erinnere mich, wie er mir sagte: „Essen ist Erinnerung.“ Das blieb hängen. Weil es stimmt. Ich erinnere mich, wie sie mir erklärte, dass jedes Gericht eine Geschichte erzählt. Und plötzlich dachte ich: Vielleicht ist Kochen eine Art Gebet. Eine Art, Danke zu sagen – für Reis, für Wasser, für das Hier und Jetzt. Klingt pathetisch? Mag sein. Aber wer einmal echten Kombu-Dashi gerochen hat, versteht mich.
